Vasilios Lampsas, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, passed away on July 11, 2025.
Vasili, or Billy as many knew him, was born in Athens Greece on February 12, 1945. He immigrated to the United States and worked his way up to owning a Diner after having spent a few years traveling the world in the role of Chief Steward on cargo ships (a title he was very proud of). Vasili loved to tell stories about all the different places he had gone as well as all the people he had met throughout his travels. Vasili’s biggest pride and joy were his grandkids. He was happy to drop everything to cook for them, drive them somewhere, help them get out of, or sometimes get into trouble. He was there for them and with them every day, all day since the moment they each were born. He especially loved cooking for them and would light up with joy when they asked him to make an elaborate dish.
Vasili was a generous, loving, playful, happy, tireless, person who enjoyed dancing, singing, cooking, watching soccer, and most of all putting smiles on people's faces, whether it was through the food he made for them or some other gift he thought they’d like. Throughout his life, he demonstrated impenetrable strength and perseverance in the most difficult circumstances, showed limitless generosity, forgave without repentance, and loved completely unconditionally.
He was 1 of 5 brothers and is now joining 3 of them: Kosta, Stelio, and Dimitri in eternal memory.
Vasilios is survived by: brother Aristidi, children Eva-Maria (Andreas) Sofianos and Fotini Lampsas, grandchildren Niko and Vasiliki, cousins Rena, Moschoula, Ari, Panagioti, Ritsa, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
